Co-op has announced its latest Christmas food-to-go range, aligning with children’s charity Barnardo’s to raise £5 million.
This festive season, Co-op is introducing a range of seasonal delicacies to its food-to-go line, while participating in a charitable initiative alongside Barnardo’s. This collaboration aims to contribute significant funds to the charity by donating £50,000 from the sales of its Christmas sandwich range.
The diverse offerings include a premium selection with items such as a peppercorn steak wrap accompanied by a rosemary gravy dip, and a turkey, truffle, and brie sandwich. Additionally, a festive sub roll finds its place in the standard assortment. Among these, five popular sandwiches have been reintroduced with enhanced recipes. These include the GRO no turkey and spiced slaw, brie and cranberry, Boxing Day feast, turkey feast, and pigs under blankets.
Pricing is structured to offer value and convenience. Standard sandwiches and wraps are available individually at £3.25, or as part of a meal deal priced at £3.50 for members and £4.00 for non-members. Meanwhile, the premium range is priced at £3.95 per item, with meal deals available at £5.00 for members and £5.50 for non-members.
Rebecca Galloway, a food-to-go developer at Co-op, expressed enthusiasm for the new collection, highlighting the cultural significance of festive sandwiches during the holiday season. She stated, “The lead up to the festive season is such an exciting time for us – the festive sandwich has become part of the Christmas tradition for many of us across the country.”
This launch comes amidst similar festive product unveilings by other major retailers such as Tesco and Aldi, offering consumers an early taste of Christmas fare.
Through this strategic initiative, Co-op not only enhances its seasonal offerings but also supports a noble cause, reinforcing its role within the community.
