Waitrose has once again joined forces with renowned British designer Lulu Guinness to unveil a new Christmas gifting collection for 2024. This marks their third successful collaboration, featuring a blend of style and sustainability.
Available both online and in physical stores of Waitrose and John Lewis, the latest collection introduces a tote bag crafted from recycled plastic bottles, priced at £15. The design is characterised by the distinctive Lulu lips motif and features two different lengths of woven straps, enhancing its practical appeal.
Alongside the tote, the collection is set to expand by the end of November, with the introduction of a reusable coffee cup and a matching drinks bottle. These accessories, decorated in the same Lulu design, are available for £7 and £12 respectively.
The initial collaboration between Waitrose and Lulu Guinness in September 2023 was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Dubbed as the season’s “most affordable it-bag,” the initial release saw 75% of stock sold on the first day, prompting the retailer to enforce a purchasing limit due to high demand. This success was mirrored in their second launch in June, where a bag was sold every four seconds.
Tim Shaw, Waitrose’s non-foods buyer, expressed his excitement about the ongoing partnership, highlighting the focus on durability and sustainability of the collection. He mentioned the inclusion of a detachable coin purse with the signature red lip motif as a key feature.
Designer Lulu Guinness shared her vision for this collaboration, aiming to create a unique yet brand-consistent design. “This time, I wanted to make the design all about our iconic lips, creating a fun and cheerful print that cascades across the tote like snowflakes. I hope it adds a touch of joy to everyone’s shopping experience,” she said.
This partnership between Waitrose and Lulu Guinness continues to captivate consumers with its combination of chic design and environmental consciousness. As the collaboration grows, it not only enriches the retail landscape but also emphasises sustainable practices in fashion.
