- This development coincides with a notable anniversary for the retailer.
The beloved high street retailer is expanding its click-and-collect service to an additional 54 stores across the UK, a strategic move designed to enhance shopping convenience for its customers. This latest expansion is set to roll out in time for the bustling Christmas shopping season, bringing the total number of participating stores to 111.
For the first time, this service will include menswear and homeware, diversifying the range available to customers beyond what is typically found only in larger stores. This addition is poised to attract more customers seeking a wider selection of products through a convenient shopping experience.
The trial for click-and-collect began in November 2022 in 25 locations across the North West of England, North Wales, and Yorkshire. Since then, the programme has gradually extended its reach to 32 additional locations, including areas in and around London, where it incorporated womenswear in April 2023.
Looking ahead, the retailer has ambitious plans to implement this service in all 184 stores across England, Wales, and Scotland by the end of 2025. Such expansion reflects the retailer’s commitment to accessibility and convenience, enhancing its service offering as part of its broader retail strategy.
As the retailer celebrates 50 years on the British high street, having opened its first store in Derby in September 1974, this expansion illustrates its ongoing investment in the UK market. With plans to invest over £100 million in its UK stores this year alone, including three new openings, three relocations, and two extensions, the retailer is reinforcing its presence and adapting to changing consumer needs.
Kari Rodgers, the UK retail director, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It’s been fifty years since we first opened our doors in Derby to bring affordable fashion to the British high street, and expanding click & collect is another way we are giving people more reasons to visit their local high street.” This statement underscores the retailer’s dedication to both tradition and innovation, ensuring its relevance in a competitive market.
The newly announced stores that will offer the click-and-collect service spread across numerous locations including Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, and York. These are strategic selections aimed at maximizing the service’s reach and effectiveness for the upcoming shopping period.
This expansion reflects the retailer’s continued investment in service accessibility, coinciding with its significant market milestone.
