The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT) has announced a winter appeal to gather £10,000, with the goal of providing vital items for children in financially strained families within the fashion industry. This initiative seeks to supply necessities such as bedding, clothing, and appliances to families who need them most.
According to a recent survey, 80% of parents working in the industry voiced their worries about keeping their children adequately warm during this winter season. Moreover, 36% admitted that they cannot afford essential winter clothing for their children. This underscores the urgent need for support within this community.
In response to these pressing needs, several industry partners have pledged their support. Bedding company Vision Linens has contributed 100 bedding bundles to be distributed to FTCT beneficiaries. Other companies such as Boden, Johnsons Hotel Linen, Ralph Lauren, Clean Linen, and Luxury Lockstitch UK are also participating through various fundraising events.
The FTCT is committed to ensuring that every penny donated is utilised to directly assist families in need, maximizing the impact of each contribution. Anna Pangbourne, CEO of FTCT, once stated: ‘For families already struggling to make ends meet, the winter months bring impossible choices: heating the home or buying warm clothes for their children.’
Recently, the Drapers Awards succeeded in raising £7,100 for FTCT, which will also go toward supporting their family grant initiative. This demonstrates significant progress towards their fundraising goals, with all proceeds going directly to helping families in dire situations.
FTCT’s winter appeal is a crucial step towards ensuring warmth and comfort for children in the fashion industry this season.
