Gandys, a brand known for its philanthropic ethos, has opened its first brick-and-mortar store at 66 Neal Street in London’s Covent Garden. This milestone marks a significant expansion for the company, providing a platform to not only showcase their latest collections but also to engage directly with customers. The store features a range of Gandys items, including backpacks, coats, hats, and various accessories, all inspired by travel.
The brand has a poignant backstory, founded by Rob and Paul Forkan, who were inspired to create Gandys after losing their parents in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Their company not only symbolises resilience but also focuses on giving back to communities. With every order, 10% is channelled into the Gandys Foundation, which provides educational support to underprivileged children across countries like Sri Lanka, Malawi, and Mongolia. To date, the foundation has raised more than £600,000, making a tangible impact on many lives.
Nurturing the brand’s commitment to philanthropy and community, Managing Director Natalie Nelson expressed excitement about the store’s opening, hoping it would be a place where people “can see the collections and learn more about how we support communities around the world through our foundation.” Nelson envisions the store as a hub for inspiration and connection, encouraging the community to embark on new adventures.
Beyond Gandys’ items, the store curates a selection of products from smaller concept brands, including Nalgene Water Bottles and Cocoon ecological travel towels. This diverse offering is complemented by a library space full of travel literature, appealing to both avid travellers and those seeking inspiration for their next journey. The involvement of Asos co-founder Nick Robertson as chair of Gandys International further bolsters the brand’s strategic direction and growth.
Gandys’ Covent Garden store not only broadens its presence but also reaffirms its commitment to philanthropy and community support.
