Goodhood has relocated to a larger store on East London’s Hanbury Street, a strategic position between Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane. This move embodies the store’s commitment to expanding its presence within the local retail landscape.
The founders, Jo Sindle and Kyle Stewart, have drawn inspiration from their deep appreciation of Japanese culture, resulting in a modular store design. This layout is intended to accommodate an array of pop-up events, brand takeovers, and community gatherings, enhancing customer engagement and interaction.
Sustainability and timeless quality take centre stage, as Goodhood introduces the ‘Life After Death’ initiative. This circular project aims to reframe and reintegrate deadstock, reinforcing the store’s dedication to eco-friendly practices.
An array of local brands enrich the store’s diverse offerings, featuring magazines and books from Artwords and unique vintage items from Unified Goods. The auditory experience is curated by Hackney’s Stranger Than Paradise, providing a vibrant atmosphere for patrons.
In addition to its eclectic selection, Goodhood focuses on its own fashion line, Goods by Goodhood, created in collaboration with Ed Davis. This exclusive line demonstrates the founders’ design prowess, highlighting their commitment to innovation in fashion.
Furthering its role as a brand incubator, Goodhood has launched ‘Goo’, a new initiative offering comprehensive services such as strategy and creative direction for emerging brands.
Co-founder Kyle Stewart reflects on this development, stating, “It’s our belief that there’s a vibe shift happening – and our new home seeks to reflect that. Jo and I wanted a shape-shifting space where we can work to deliver tomorrow’s vision of retail.”
Goodhood’s latest venture on Hanbury Street represents a bold stride towards innovative retail experiences and sustainable practices, heralding a new era for the beloved concept store.
