In a forward-thinking move, Asda has expanded its festive food offerings with the introduction of new Christmas sandwiches and wraps for 2024.
The 2024 range includes eight distinct items, featuring two novel additions designed to excite the palate. Leading the charge is the ‘Let It Spice Festive Curry Wrap’, a unique concoction of chicken breast, winter-spiced slaw, cranberry chutney, and sweet yet mildly spiced curry sauce. This offering aligns with the familiar tradition of using Christmas leftovers to create a curry, presenting a bold alternative to the conventional roast turkey.
Another highlight of the collection is the ‘Christmas Club Sandwich’, which revamps the classic chicken and bacon club with a festive flair. It is packed with chicken breast, cranberry chutney, beechwood smoked bacon, pork, sage and onion stuffing, and chicken stock paste, providing a delightful twist to a perennial favourite among British consumers.
Kathryn Saveall, the product manager for Asda’s Christmas sandwiches, expresses enthusiasm for these additions, stating: ‘The curry wrap is all about tapping into the typical trend of creating a curry with Christmas leftovers, so if you’re fed up with the traditional roast turkey and trimmings, then the new curry wrap is for you.’ She further highlights the company’s excitement around the Christmas Club Sandwich, noting its appeal due to its innovative yet familiar composition.
Alongside these newcomers, Asda is bringing back several popular items from previous years. These include the Boxing Day Sandwich, which now features chicken instead of turkey, the Hog Roast Sandwich, Festive Duo Wrap, Prawn Cocktail Sandwich, Festive Feast Sandwich, and a vegetarian option – the Brie and Cranberry Festive Sandwich. All these options are priced starting at £2.50 and are included in a three-for-two meal deal available both in stores and online.
In addition, Asda is offering its single mince pies for £1.25 as part of the meal deal, enhancing its festive selection. This move coincides with similar launches from other major supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi, and Co-op, each aiming to capture the holiday spirit through their respective festive food offerings.
Asda’s innovative approach to its Christmas sandwich line-up highlights the brand’s dedication to both tradition and modern culinary trends, offering a diverse range that caters to varied tastes and preferences.
