Ottolenghi has launched three new cooking sauces as part of its exclusive collaboration with Waitrose, underscoring the successful partnership between the two brands.
Waitrose has shared that initial sales of the Ottolenghi range have exceeded expectations, marking a triumph for both the retailer and the renowned chef’s brand.
Lucy White, who oversees world food acquisition at Waitrose, affirmed the range’s success, expressing that customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. She stated, “The Ottolenghi range has been a great success at Waitrose and the response from our customers has been amazing. The initial range exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to hearing what our customers think about these new additions.”
The newest additions to the shelves include a Sticky Date & Tamarind Sauce and a Pilpelchuma Sauce, both retailing at £4 for a 180g jar, as well as a Roasted Aubergine & Tomato Sauce priced at £4.50 for 350g. These sauces are set to enhance the culinary options available to Waitrose customers, offering unique flavours crafted by Yotam Ottolenghi and his team.
This development follows Ottolenghi’s April initiative, which introduced sauces and spices exclusively to Waitrose. This move aimed to expand the brand’s reach beyond its established deli and restaurant operations in London. The initial launch featured diverse offerings such as Miso Pesto, Kalamata Olive and Harissa Sauce, along with a Shawarma Marinade and various aromatic spice mixes.
Ottolenghi’s venture into supermarkets represents a strategic expansion, aiming to bring its gourmet offerings to a broader audience. The collaboration with Waitrose aligns with Ottolenghi’s vision of making high-quality, flavourful cooking accessible to all.
The ongoing success of Ottolenghi’s product line at Waitrose highlights a promising future for the partnership, as they continue to innovate and cater to the evolving tastes of discerning consumers.
