KP Snacks has strategically acquired Whole Earth Foods, an established organic nut butter brand, to broaden its portfolio of healthier snacking options.
KP Snacks has recently finalised the acquisition of Whole Earth Foods, a noted brand known for its organic nut butters and soft drinks. This move represents a significant expansion in KP Snacks’ range of health-conscious snack offerings. Whole Earth Foods was previously under the ownership of Ecotone for 22 years and has grown its presence across various European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Italy.
This acquisition is in line with KP Snacks’ goal to diversify its product range by incorporating brands that align with contemporary dietary preferences, focusing on healthier options. Mark Thorpe, CEO of KP Snacks, positively commented on the acquisition, describing Whole Earth Foods as a “fantastic addition” and emphasising its alignment with KP Snacks’ dedication to nutritious, high-quality products. Thorpe highlighted the complimentary nature of Whole Earth Foods within the existing portfolio, which includes well-known brands such as Butterkist, Hula Hoops, KP Nuts, McCoy’s crisps, Pom-bear, Popchips, Skips, and Tyrrell’s.
Christophe Barnouin, CEO of Ecotone, reflected on the sale as a culmination of over two decades of sustainable development under Ecotone’s leadership. He expressed confidence that under the new KP Snacks ownership, Whole Earth will continue to invest and grow, thereby securing its future in the competitive snacking industry.
The acquisition comes in the wake of KP Snacks’ announcement of increased profits nearing £100 million in 2023, a notable achievement considering the challenges it faced, such as a recent cyberattack. This financial success underscores the company’s resilience and strategic foresight in enhancing its market position.
Through the acquisition of Whole Earth Foods, KP Snacks is set to reinforce its commitment to providing healthier snacking alternatives while supporting its growth ambitions within Europe.
