- Lidl continues to explore new sites across the UK to meet growing demand.
Lidl is enhancing its footprint in the UK by engaging in a significant £70 million sale and leaseback arrangement. This joint venture, involving Roadside Real Estate and Meadow Partners, encompasses 12 new stores in strategic locations including Crediton, Manchester, and Saffron Walden. This move is part of Lidl’s broader strategy to bring its offerings closer to more households across the country, as noted by Richard Taylor, Lidl GB’s chief development officer. He remarked, “Our sale and leaseback deal is just the latest example of how we’re continuing to expand our footprint across the country, ensuring that even more households can benefit from a Lidl store nearby.”
In the lead-up to Christmas, Lidl aims to open ten new outlets, reinforcing its presence in regions such as Berwick Green in Bristol, Bovey Tracey in Devon, and Stirchley in Birmingham. Notably, the capital city will see the addition of three new locations in Hoxton, Forest Gate, and Caterham. Furthermore, the company plans to reopen three existing stores that have undergone relocation, refurbishment, or expansion, specifically in Chessington, Connah’s Quay, and Dagenham Heathway. This follows the recent establishment of stores in Worthing and Fulham earlier in the year.
Lidl’s expansion reflects its commitment to increasing accessibility to affordable, quality food and providing job opportunities within local communities. Taylor stated, “Our plan to open 10 new stores before Christmas demonstrates our continued commitment to providing more communities across the country with access to affordable, quality food, as well as employment opportunities. But we still have big ambitions for our expansion plans to open hundreds more Lidl stores in the future.” He also highlighted the ongoing efforts of Lidl’s teams to scout for new sites, particularly in towns lacking existing outlets or where existing demand is on the rise.
Lidl’s strategic expansion is set to enhance its reach and service delivery across the UK.
