Lord Rose’s journey in the retail industry began at Marks & Spencer, where he started as a management trainee in 1972. He briefly left to join the Burton Group, including Arcadia and Debenhams, and ascended to the position of CEO by 1994. Rose’s return to M&S in 2004 as CEO marked a pivotal moment in his career.
Acknowledged for his contributions, he chaired the British Fashion Council from 2004 to 2008 and was subsequently knighted for his services to the retail sector. In 2014, he was appointed to the House of Lords, highlighting his influential presence in both business and governance.
