Mars, the global food and nutrition giant, has announced a major leadership change in its European operations. Hans Bakker, with two decades of experience within Mars, steps into the role of regional general manager for Mars Food & Nutrition Europe.
Hans Bakker has been a significant force within Mars for 20 years, having most recently served as the vice president of global transformation since 2021. In this role, he was instrumental in leading initiatives across 30 countries, showcasing his ability to drive large-scale change and innovation. Before this, Bakker advanced through various sales and marketing positions, eventually becoming the general manager for Mars Food & Nutrition in Germany.
Bakker’s appointment is notable as Mars continues to implement strategic leadership adjustments. Speaking about his new role, Bakker expressed enthusiasm for working in Europe, a region he describes as vibrant and culturally rich. He is looking forward to collaborating with associates across the continent to enhance growth and deliver nutritious meal solutions to consumers.
The outgoing regional general manager for Europe, Dave Dusangh, will transition to a new position as regional president for North America. This reshuffling at the top aligns with the company’s broader goals of fostering talent and strengthening its brand presence globally.
Global President Shaid Shah remarked on the appointments, expressing confidence in Bakker and Dusangh’s abilities to contribute substantially to the business. He highlighted the company’s focus on investing in talent as key to sustaining robust business performance and fulfilling Mars’ corporate mission.
This leadership change comes during a period of significant expansion for Mars, following its acquisition of Kellanova, the maker of Pringles, for over £22 billion earlier this year.
Mars’ strategic leadership changes reflect its commitment to growth and innovation within the food industry. With Hans Bakker taking the helm in Europe, the company is poised to continue its development trajectory, leveraging his extensive experience and passion for the mission.
