LVMH has announced the appointment of Michael Rider as the new Creative Director of French fashion house Celine, succeeding Hedi Slimane. Rider is expected to officially take on his new role in early 2025 after Slimane’s notable seven-year tenure.
Having previously served as the Design Director for women’s ready-to-wear at Celine from 2008 to 2018, Rider returns with extensive experience. He spent the last six years as Creative Director for Polo Ralph Lauren women’s collections, where he honed his skills in overseeing large-scale fashion lines.
Rider expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Celine is a maison with values very close to my heart and a beautiful heritage to build on.” His role will now expand to encompass all of Celine’s collections, including womenswear, menswear, as well as accessories such as leather goods.
