Fashion retailer Monsoon has partnered with My Wardrobe HQ to make luxury bridal and occasionwear more accessible through a rental service. This initiative aims to enhance the affordability and sustainability of fashion choices for modern consumers.
The newly launched rental range includes 30 pieces, spanning bridal attire, bridesmaid dresses, and other occasionwear. Notable offerings from Monsoon’s popular selection, such as the feather-trimmed bridal jumpsuits, are part of the collection.
This collection not only allows wearers to enjoy significant fashion pieces without permanent commitment but also promotes eco-conscious consumption. The availability of these rentals through both Monsoon and My Wardrobe HQ will provide a wider reach.
Rental prices are designed to be budget-friendly, with costs for formalwear rentals ranging from £5 to £6 per day and bridalwear renting at £8 to £14 daily. A minimum rental period of four days applies, making it an attractive option for those seeking quality attire at a fraction of the purchase price.
Naomi Robertson, buying and merchandise director at Monsoon, remarked that the rental service “allows our customers to wear and return our most gorgeous bridal and occasion pieces, ever widening our reach and giving modern women a more affordable and sustainable choice.”
This strategic move by Monsoon follows a reported 4% decrease in group sales to £248 million for the year ending on 26 August 2023, partly due to franchise transitions in Saudi Arabia and a decline in kidswear sales. EBITDA also fell to £20 million, a decrease of £4.4 million compared to the previous year. However, retail sales grew by 4%, buoyed by the performance of Accessorize.
Through this partnership, Monsoon hopes to provide stylish and sustainable fashion alternatives while recovering from recent sales challenges.
