- Additionally, customers can purchase potatoes at a reduced price until the start of the new year.
- Fraser Lovatt of Morrisons emphasises the importance of affordable festive meals for everyone.
- Morrisons’ move mirrors Asda’s similar initiative launched the previous week.
Morrisons has introduced a generous offer to make Christmas dinner more accessible by reducing the price of traditional festive vegetables to just 10p per item. This promotion runs from December 18 to December 24 and includes 1kg bags of carrots, 500g packs of parsnips, 500g of Brussels sprouts, and a British whole swede. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on shoppers as they prepare for the festive season.
The offer extends beyond just vegetables, as Morrisons is also providing a discount on potatoes. Shoppers can avail 2kg of potatoes for £1.15, half of the regular price, with this offer available until January 1. This strategic pricing is clearly designed to help customers plan and execute a festive meal without financial strain.
Fraser Lovatt, the category director for produce and horticulture at Morrisons, stated: “No Christmas dinner is complete without all the trimmings of the seasonal vegetables. By cutting the costs of products like carrots, parsnips, sprouts, and potatoes, we are helping customers get all they need for the perfect festive roast without breaking the bank.” His remarks highlight the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and food accessibility during the holiday season.
Moreover, this move is not just customer-focused but also benefits producers. Lovatt added that selling more of these vegetables prevents waste and supports Morrisons’ network of British farmers. By aligning consumer demand with reduced prices, Morrisons ensures that its supply chain remains robust and sustainable.
In a similar vein, Asda has also reintroduced its 15p festive vegetable sale, aligning with Morrisons’ initiative to provide affordable festive meal essentials. Starting from December 19 to December 24, Asda offers 1kg carrots, 500g sprouts, 360g broccoli, and 500g parsnips at 15p each, available both in-store and online.
These initiatives from Morrisons and Asda demonstrate a concerted effort to make festive celebrations more accessible and affordable during the holiday season.
