Marks & Spencer has fortified its alliance with Retail Insight, a noted in-store software firm, as part of its ongoing mission to minimise food waste.
For an additional three years, M&S has opted to renew its collaboration with Retail Insight, a relationship that has been ongoing since 2021. This partnership leverages Retail Insight’s advanced AI-powered solution to implement dynamic markdowns, effectively reducing unnecessary waste while simultaneously boosting sales across its retail outlets.
The initiative aligns with M&S’s sustainable efforts, which have been navigated by the Plan A programme since its inception in 2007. The programme underwent a strategic reset in 2021 with refreshed objectives, including an ambitious goal of achieving net zero across all operations by the year 2040.
Chris Thomas, Head of Product for Store Operations at M&S, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting significant reductions in waste and enhancements in operational efficiency achieved over the past three years. He stated, ‘The WasteInsight solution has generated extensive benefits in reducing waste and improving overall efficiency. We are eager to continue our collaboration to help meet our net zero targets.’
Retail Insight’s Vice President of Customer Success for EMEA, Kieran O’Brien, echoed the positive sentiments, acknowledging the strong partnership and sustained success it brings. ‘We are thrilled to continue our work with Marks & Spencer, proud of the robust relationship developed which underpins our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that yield success. Our close working relationship has been pivotal in reducing waste and enhancing efficiency in stores.’
By extending this partnership, M&S continues to demonstrate its dedication to sustainability and operational efficacy, paving the way for achieving its environmental goals.
