Starting on 30th November, a delivery service will allow London residents to have specially curated pigs in blankets delivered right to their doorsteps. This service, priced at £5 per delivery, is both convenient and charitable, as all proceeds will benefit the community platform Neighbourly. The menu boasts a selection of five unique meat options, including the Specially Selected Ultimate Pigs in Blankets and the Truffle Chipolata variety. For those preferring a plant-based option, vegan alternatives such as the Plant Menu Ultimate Footlong Pig in Blanket are available.
The launch coincides with a substantial increase in the popularity of this Christmas favourite. It is estimated that 761 million pigs in blankets will be consumed in the UK this festive season. The popularity surge has been so significant that it follows the launch of a dedicated Pigs in Blankets Restaurant on Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch, which opens a day prior, on 29th November.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying, expressed her enthusiasm for the service, highlighting the phenomenal response to the restaurant and the desire to offer the same experience to those unable to attend in person. The initiative is seen as a first of its kind in the UK, bringing the joy of these beloved treats directly into the home.
Furthermore, as part of the launch celebrations, the first 1,000 customers to participate in the giveaway will receive a £5 voucher. This initiative aims to further engage consumers by allowing them to enjoy up to 30 pieces of these festive treats at no additional cost.
