In a strategic move, Ocado has appointed Adam Warby as its new chair, signalling an important phase in the company’s global expansion efforts.
Adam Warby, the chair of executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, is set to join Ocado as an independent non-executive director from 1 November. On 1 December, Warby will assume his role as the new chair, taking over from Rick Haythornthwaite. This appointment comes at what CEO Tim Steiner describes as an ‘important moment’ for Ocado as it continues to expand into new markets and sectors.
Currently leading with its world-renowned technology, Ocado has it operational with 11 out of its 13 partners globally. CEO Tim Steiner emphasised the significance of this technological deployment, noting the ongoing efforts to scale operations and online capabilities in collaboration with partners. Warby’s extensive experience in global technology and consulting is anticipated to be a significant asset to the company’s board and leadership.
Reflecting on the transition, Steiner acknowledged the contributions of Haythornthwaite, who is stepping down due to his commitments as chair of NatWest Group. Steiner lauded Haythornthwaite’s leadership, stating that his guidance and insight have been invaluable to Ocado’s growth trajectory.
