Ocado announces another wave of price cuts, reaffirming its commitment to providing value to customers.
- Since June, over 630 products have seen price reductions, with the latest including prominent grocery and non-food items.
- This move follows a strong sales performance in 2022, particularly in popular grocery categories.
- The reductions form part of Ocado’s ‘Big Price Drop’, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction through competitive pricing.
- Ocado Retail CEO, Hannah Gibson, emphasises the company’s dedication to expanding the range of discounted products.
Ocado has initiated a further reduction in prices across 330 additional items, marking its third such action since June. This effort now totals over 630 discounted products. Notable inclusions in the most recent reductions are Warburtons plain bagels, M&S Oakham Gold chicken breast fillets, Ripen At Home Conference pears, and McCain frozen hash browns. Vanish Oxi Action fabric stain remover, a non-food item, will also see its price cut by 38% to £4 from the previous £6.50.
The strategy comes on the heels of an impressive sales period for Ocado, where nearly 70 tonnes of Warburtons Plain bagels and over four million Ocado own-brand pears were sold in the past year. This underscores the company’s ability to cater to consumer demand effectively while maintaining competitive pricing.
This recent price initiative follows an earlier wave of reductions in June, involving 100 items, and a substantial ‘Big Price Drop’ campaign last month, which targeted 200 products aligned with the ‘back to school’ season. Such strategic moves aim to position Ocado as a leader in value and service within the online grocery market.
Hannah Gibson, CEO of Ocado Retail, stated, “Ocado is more committed than ever to delivering great value. We’re proud to have reduced more than 600 products, but we’re not stopping there.” This statement highlights Ocado’s resolve to continue enhancing its price competitiveness, further benefiting its customers.
Through continued price reductions, Ocado reaffirms its leadership in the online grocery market, ensuring competitive prices for its customers.
