Primark has made a significant move by opening its first store in Hungary, located in the bustling Arena Mall of Budapest. The store spans 33,900 square feet, establishing a substantial presence in the city.
This opening is part of a larger investment strategy by the retailer, amounting to more than €8 million. With this venture, Primark has successfully created over 180 jobs, providing a boost to the local economy.
Hungary marks the 17th market in which Primark operates internationally. It is also the sixth market in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), where the retailer is steadily expanding its footprint. Currently, there are 13 stores in the CEE region.
Looking ahead, Primark is committed to further growth in Central and Eastern Europe. The retailer has confirmed the opening of three additional stores this year, including locations in Timisoara, Romania, Bydgoszcz, Poland, and a second store in Prague, Czech Republic.
Primark’s CEO, Paul Marchant, expressed enthusiasm about this expansion, stating that the Budapest store signifies a crucial step in their global growth plan. With an ambitious target to achieve 530 stores by the end of 2026, Primark is focused on broadening its global reach.
