The much-loved Quality Street Collisions bar, a harmonious blend of two favourite flavours, has been discontinued by its manufacturer. Launched in August 2023, the bar quickly became a cherished treat for many but has now been officially removed from shelves, sparking disappointment among its fans.
The news of the discontinuation was confirmed following a query from a concerned customer on X, formerly known as Twitter, asking about the bar’s availability. Quality Street responded candidly, stating that the Collisions bar, which creatively combined the flavours of The Purple One and the Green Triangle, did not match the popularity of other products in their range and was subsequently discontinued.
This decision has led to a wave of disappointment among chocolate enthusiasts, with many expressing their frustration and sadness over the loss of a favourite treat. One user lamented, “it was my favourite bar,” highlighting the affection held by customers for the sweet confection.
Before its discontinuation, the 235g Collisions bar was available in major supermarkets, where it stood out due to its rich combination of caramel, creamy hazelnut, and crunchy hazelnut pieces. The bar was seen as an innovative addition to the Quality Street lineup, which has long been a staple in British confectionery.
Despite the discontinuation of the Collisions bar, Quality Street continues to offer the 87g Purple One sharing bar, which remains accessible in most UK supermarkets. This smaller option provides a consolation for fans of the Purple One, albeit without the unique combination that the Collisions bar offered.
In a broader context, Quality Street’s owner, Nestlé, is trialling innovative packaging solutions, such as a first-of-its-kind paper tub for the brand’s iconic Christmas chocolates. This move towards sustainability aims to reduce the environmental impact of its packaging, with over 200,000 paper tubs planned for distribution in selected Tesco stores during the festive season.
While the discontinuation of the Quality Street Collisions bar has left many consumers disappointed, the brand continues to adapt and innovate in other areas. The ongoing development of sustainable packaging indicates a shift towards more environmentally friendly practices, reflecting broader trends in the confectionery industry.
