Represent, the esteemed British streetwear brand, is poised to mark a significant expansion by opening its inaugural UK store in Manchester this autumn. Strategically positioned at Unit 2 New Cathedral Street, this 5,419 square foot store places itself between notable brands, Canada Goose and Paul Smith, in Manchester’s bustling city centre.
Founded in 2011 by local brothers George and Mike Heaton, Represent has built its reputation by drawing on retro Mancunian themes. This deep connection to Manchester makes this store opening particularly meaningful for the brand and its founders.
The brand has garnered a global presence with more than 150 stockists, featuring prestigious names such as Flannels, Selfridges, Harrods, Saks, Neiman Marcus Group, and Nordstrom. This widespread recognition is a testament to Represent’s growing influence in the fashion industry.
Earlier this year, Represent debuted its first physical store, a 3,100 square foot location in Los Angeles, marking its venture into brick and mortar retail. Building on this success, the brand is expanding further within the UK, having secured a ten-year lease for a 5,000 square foot store on Wardour Street in London, slated to open in early 2025.
George Heaton, creative director and founder, expressed his enthusiasm by stating, “We are very excited to open our first UK retail store in Manchester, our hometown and base. The Represent Manchester location marks an important and iconic milestone for the brand.”
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, overseeing New Cathedral Street, acknowledged the strategic significance of the choice: “It is fantastic that Represent has chosen New Cathedral Street for its first permanent location outside London, especially given the brand’s history with Greater Manchester.”
The opening of Represent’s Manchester store underscores the brand’s strategic expansion and deep-rooted connection to its hometown.
