ScS has announced the discontinuation of its Snug sofa-in-a-box brand, a decision taken under the guidance of its new owner, Poltronesofà. This change comes less than two years after ScS acquired the brand. The sofa specialist reassures that while new orders are no longer accepted, existing orders will be fulfilled, and customer service support remains available to address any concerns.
The choice to phase out the Snug brand is part of Poltronesofà’s strategy to focus on a new business model and product range, now featured in the revamped ScS stores. Despite Snug’s cessation, ScS emphasised that it has not entered administration.
Founded in 2018, Snug was distinguished as Europe’s pioneer in sofa-in-a-box offerings, featuring modular and customisable furniture in a variety of colours. ScS struck a pre-pack purchase agreement to acquire Snug for £875,000 at the beginning of 2023, aiming to expand its market presence through this innovative brand.
The closure aligns with Poltronesofà’s broader efforts to streamline its offerings. Previous actions by the Italian furniture giant include the removal of ScS’s flooring and carpeting ranges in July, concurrent with an overhaul that also saw 38 of the 114 ScS stores updated with a new aesthetic. This decision is a reflection of Poltronesofà’s vision to refine the product lineup following its £99.4 million acquisition of ScS earlier in the year.
This strategic decision by Poltronesofà marks a significant shift in ScS’s business direction, focusing on a refined product range.
