Sealskinz has officially opened its first permanent store in London’s Marylebone Village, marking a significant milestone for the brand known for its waterproof accessories. This new location comes after the brand’s temporary pop-up shop, which operated from November to January last year.
The store, occupying two floors and covering 1,000 square feet, showcases Sealskinz’s expanded product line. This includes the ‘Vitae’ clothing range introduced last year, designed to complement the brand’s core waterproof offerings like hats, gloves, and socks. Alongside this, Sealskinz has also launched its first running collection earlier this year.
Established in 2009, Sealskinz originates from Norfolk and is renowned for its waterproof and breathable accessories. In 2022, Ray Kelvin, the founder of Ted Baker, acquired a majority shareholding in the company. Under his leadership, Sealskinz is venturing further into the fashion scene with outdoor clothing that boasts technical features.
Kelvin expressed his vision, stating, “After the success of the pop-up last year, it is great to have a permanent presence in the area. I don’t want this to be just another store, but a hub for the entire Sealskinz community. I have lived and breathed retail my entire life, and I intend to create something truly special. It’s good to be back.”
To engage with the community and attract new customers, Sealskinz plans to host various events at the new store. These include running clubs and workshops designed to build a sense of community among customers and to highlight the functionality and style of their products.
Sealskinz’s new store represents both a physical and strategic expansion, enhancing its presence in the retail world.
