Sofidel, a prominent tissue paper manufacturer, has pledged support to Amazon’s Multibank initiative, supplying vital essentials to families in need throughout the UK. The move highlights a significant effort to alleviate the pressures faced by those grappling with poverty and deprivation.
Sofidel, known for its household brands, including the widely recognised Regina, is making substantial contributions to support vulnerable communities. By providing toilet paper and kitchen towels, the company aids two critical Multibanks: ‘Cwtch Mawr’ in South Wales and ‘Felix’s Multibank’ in London. These entities play a crucial role in redistributing donated goods to families severely affected by economic hardships.
Multibanks, collaborative efforts co-founded by former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Amazon, aim to tackle the pervasive issue of poverty through community-driven support hubs. These centres are managed by leading charities that distribute essential items such as hygiene products, bedding, and clothing via a network of referral partners, including educators, social workers, and local charities.
Francesco Pastore, Sofidel’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, reinforced the company’s dedication to community involvement, stating, “At Sofidel, we are happy to join this valuable, multi-stakeholder program and are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate. It is a way for us to show solidarity to people affected by poverty and try to make a real difference in their daily lives.”
The impact of recent economic challenges like austerity and the cost-of-living crisis has been profound, significantly burdening numerous British families. Gordon Brown commented on the importance of these donations, noting that they offer critical relief to families, for whom every penny saved extends their financial resources.
John Boumphrey, Amazon UK’s Country Manager, echoed this sentiment, expressing the coalition’s aim to connect surplus essentials with those in desperate need. To date, the initiative has supported over 400,000 families, and with Sofidel’s involvement, the capacity to assist more individuals has been enhanced.
Sofidel’s participation in Amazon’s Multibank initiative underscores a meaningful commitment to social welfare, contributing significantly to the well-being of thousands of UK families during challenging economic times.
