Uber Eats is responding to the high demand for quick festive grocery deliveries by partnering with major supermarkets for swift fulfilment.
As the festive season approaches, Uber Eats has strategically allied with well-known supermarkets like Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, and Co-op. This collaboration aims to provide consumers with essential groceries within a mere 30 minutes. This move is particularly timely, considering the seasonal delivery slots were filled weeks beforehand, highlighting the need for such a service.
Additionally, Iceland, a leader in frozen food, has chosen to open select stores specifically for delivery-only orders on Boxing Day. This initiative ensures that households can make use of the Uber Eats app to replenish their festive staples and treats during this busy period. The demand for Uber Eats services has seen a 96% increase in December orders from the previous year, indicating a significant shift in consumer behaviour towards last-minute shopping convenience.
Uber Eats has also released forecasts for what are expected to be the most popular items during this festive period. Based on last year’s most frequent last-minute searches, essentials like sprouts, parsnips, turkey, and pigs in blankets are anticipated to be in high demand. The advent calendar remains the top choice for gifting, while prosecco continues to be the drink of preference across the UK.
Alex Troughton, director of grocery and retail for Uber Eats, stated, “We see a huge surge in demand as people prepare for their festive celebrations. With Uber Eats’ best-in-class technology and consumer product, customers can easily find gifts, Christmas essentials, and party supplies from some of the UK’s most trusted grocery and retail partners.”
Uber Eats’ integration with supermarkets signifies a shift towards more accessible and rapid festive shopping solutions, answering the needs of modern consumers who crave efficiency.
