From 19 December, a prominent supermarket will significantly lower the prices of key Christmas vegetables to support customers during the festive season.
Shoppers can take advantage of this offer both in-store and online, with vegetables such as 1kg of carrots, 500g of sprouts, 360g of broccoli, and 500g of parsnips priced at just 15p each, lasting until 24 December. This marks a substantial reduction from current prices, demonstrating the retailer’s commitment to offering affordable options for Christmas dinners.
In a first for this campaign, 2kg bags of potatoes will also be included in the offer, previously selling at £1.35. This addition enhances the opportunity for customers to purchase essential ingredients for traditional Christmas meals at a lower cost.
Alongside reduced vegetable prices, there is also a promotion on British Whole Fresh Turkey available from 19 to 24 December. Such initiatives reflect the supermarket’s strategy to provide comprehensive support for consumers’ festive needs.
The supermarket has already observed that 50% of its Christmas delivery slots are booked, urging customers to plan ahead to avoid missing out.
Moreover, the retailer has announced a pledge to invest nearly £1 million in grants and new in-store initiatives designed to address loneliness among those over 60 during the festive season. This follows the unveiling of the Chatty Cafés initiative and the Winter Warmers deal, aimed at fostering community engagement and support.
David Hills, the supermarket’s chief customer officer, stated that their mission is to ensure customers can access all they need at affordable prices. He expressed concern that many older individuals face Christmas alone, underscoring the importance of initiatives that bring people together.
As the festive season approaches, this supermarket’s initiative not only alleviates financial pressure on customers but also strengthens community ties through its support for vulnerable groups. This approach illustrates a broader commitment to making the festive season enjoyable and affordable for all.
