Tesco has announced significant price cuts on classic Christmas dinner items, promising to ease festive budgets for Clubcard holders this December.
From 19 to 25 December, consumers shopping with a Clubcard can enjoy a traditional Christmas feast for six at an impressive cost of just £1.84 per person. This is made possible by Tesco’s bold decision to reduce the price of small, fresh turkeys by 40%, bringing the cost down to £3 per kilo.
In addition to turkeys, Tesco is offering carrots and parsnips at 15p each, and sage and onion stuffing at 40p for Clubcard members. These reductions mean the total cost for a Christmas dinner for six amounts to merely £11.05, presenting an even lower price than last year’s offer, which was £2.09 per person.
Ashwin Prasad, Tesco’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed the company’s commitment to providing value during the festive season, emphasising the importance of affordable holiday meals for families across the UK. “We know that every little really does help at this time of year,” he stated, highlighting Tesco’s efforts to offer great value even in comparison to previous years.
Alongside the traditional meal components, Tesco is extending further savings on other seasonal treats and staples. These include half-price luxury mince pies and substantial discounts on beef, pork, and gammon joints, as well as whole salmon sides, accessible to Clubcard holders.
The move aligns with recent pricing strategies from competitors like Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Aldi, all of which have also lowered prices on essential Christmas groceries such as vegetables, now available from 15p. This trend reflects a broader market shift towards enhancing affordability for festive foods.
Tesco’s initiative sets a new standard in making traditional festive meals accessible for more families, showcasing a competitive approach amid industry-wide efforts to offer cost-effective holiday options.
