Trailberg, a well-regarded name in outdoor sportswear, is set to open its first permanent store in Manchester this summer. The brand, which focuses on sportswear designed for mountain running, has chosen Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre as its new location. This strategic move reflects Trailberg’s ambition to reach a wider audience and establish a tangible presence in a thriving retail environment.
The new store, occupying a 1,300 sq ft unit in the vibrant Arndale centre, marks a significant step in Trailberg’s expansion plans. This retail space, which was formerly home to sportswear brand Cruyff since December 2020, indicates a calculated investment into a location known for substantial consumer traffic.
Manchester’s Arndale shopping centre recorded a remarkable footfall of 46 million visitors in 2023, underscoring its position as a leading retail hub in the North West. This venue recently welcomed other prominent brands such as Dune and French Connection, further enhancing its appeal as a central shopping destination.
The expansion at Arndale aligns with a broader trend of retail growth within the centre, bolstered by investments such as New Look’s £3.3m improvement strategy for its stores across Greater Manchester. Arndale’s dynamic environment continues to attract leading retailers keen to capitalise on its reputation and consumer reach.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, spoke on the importance of maintaining a diverse mix of brands at Arndale. He emphasised that this diversity is essential to sustaining the centre’s status as a popular shopping destination, which in turn, attracts both international and local brands. His remarks highlight ongoing negotiations to secure additional leases with well-known brands, moving Arndale closer to full occupancy.
Trailberg’s move to Manchester Arndale represents a calculated step towards broader market engagement.
