Uniqlo has expanded its presence in the United Kingdom with the opening of its 20th store, situated at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, London. Occupying a historically significant Victorian coal shed, the store spans 9,000 square feet and was elegantly redesigned by the acclaimed Heatherwick Studio to preserve the location’s industrial heritage, featuring exposed brickwork and wooden beams.
This dynamic space showcases a wide array of Uniqlo’s fashion offerings for both men and women. Among the featured items are the brand’s popular adjustable-strap shoulder bag and the innovative ‘soufflé’ yarn knitwear, made from a blend of wool and acrylic.
Adding a novel touch, the King’s Cross location introduces a small selection of childrenswear available through a ground-floor vending machine. Another key feature is the mobile repair and customisation station that can be effortlessly moved across the store and adjacent outdoor terrace, offering customers convenience and personalised services.
In line with Uniqlo’s commitment to community involvement, the store opening has been enriched by a collaboration with students from Central Saint Martins college at the University of the Arts London. These budding artists have crafted exclusive embroidery designs that capture the essence of the local area, including inspirations from Regent’s Canal.
This opening is part of Uniqlo’s broader expansion strategy in 2024, which also includes a new store on Oxford Street, London, and another in Edinburgh, reflecting the brand’s strategic growth targets across the UK.
Uniqlo’s new store at King’s Cross embodies a harmonious blend of heritage, innovation, and community engagement.
