Uniqlo, a prominent Japanese fashion retailer, has expanded its footprint in London with the opening of a flagship store at Coal Drops Yard. This store opened its doors on 19 September and is strategically located in a historic Victorian coal drops shed, covering a substantial 800 square meters across three levels.
The second floor of this new store is home to the Uniqlo Studio, a creative space dedicated to sustainability. Here, shoppers are encouraged to recycle, repair, or remake their garments, promoting a circular economy and encouraging prolonged usage of clothing items.
In collaboration with East Japan Railway Company, the store features a vending machine selling selected items of Uniqlo kidswear on the second floor. Shoppers are also treated to the artistic flair of British artist Pref, who has contributed an art mural inspired by Uniqlo’s ‘Made For All’ philosophy, using his distinctive typography style. Pref’s artwork aligns with the brand’s inclusive ethos, enhancing the store’s creative environment.
