ETL Global, the multi-disciplinary accountancy network, has marked another milestone with the merger of Glaisyers ETL and Liverpool-based law firm Quinn Barrow, signifying its fifth UK law firm acquisition.
This strategic merger significantly expands Glaisyers’ presence in Liverpool, tripling the size of its office there, which was established only last year. The integration will result in a team of 20 staff members, enhancing Glaisyers ETL’s capabilities in the region.
Headquartered in Manchester, Glaisyers ETL now employs 85 professionals, contributing to a combined turnover of £9 million, bolstered by the £1.5 million from Quinn Barrow. Quinn Barrow will serve as the new Liverpool base, bringing a comprehensive business and private client practice into the fold, as well as introducing family law services to Glaisyers’ offerings.
ETL Global, known for its extensive reach with 18,000 professionals across 50 countries, primarily takes majority stakes in its network firms. It is the 15th largest accountancy network worldwide, with its UK operations based in Bolton. Glaisyers was ETL’s first legal acquisition in 2018, with similar ventures including London firm Laytons in 2021.
Paul Barrow of Quinn Barrow expressed optimism about the merger, noting the growth possibilities it offers by joining forces with a dynamic player in the North-West legal market. Adrian Rogers, a corporate partner at Glaisyers ETL, also welcomed Quinn Barrow’s expertise, emphasising their respectability and the strategic advantage this merger brings to the region.
ETL Global’s approach of integrating legal services with accountancy and HR functions reflects a growing trend of multidisciplinary practices, offering comprehensive solutions to clients across different sectors. This merger not only expands geographical reach but also diversifies service offerings, which is a significant step in achieving a more holistic practice.
The merger between Glaisyers ETL and Quinn Barrow exemplifies ETL Global’s strategic expansion within the UK legal market. By enhancing its regional presence and diversifying service capabilities, it sets a precedent for future growth within the multidisciplinary professional services landscape.
