Ramsdens Solicitors is enhancing its court of protection practice by appointing Hanna Whitehead as an associate. Hanna Whitehead, an expert in health and welfare cases within the court of protection, has built an impressive career over the past seven years at Kirklees Council. In her new role, she is expected to bring her specialized knowledge to the firm.
During her tenure at Kirklees Council, Hanna’s work involved advising on numerous cases, including challenges related to deprivations of liberty (DOLS), Section 16 applications under the Mental Capacity Act of 2005, and best interest decisions. Her broad experience in handling such sensitive legal matters makes her an asset to Ramsdens.
Hanna originally qualified as a barrister, but has since honed her expertise in specific areas such as Section 21 objections, Section 16 applications, and medical consent and capacity issues. Her academic background further bolsters her professional credentials, given her postgraduate degrees in mental health law and biotechnology law.
Currently, Hanna is working on a PhD that explores the critically important issue of capacity to engage in sexual relations. This area of research highlights her forward-thinking approach to complex legal challenges, demonstrating her commitment to advancing understanding in nuanced areas of law.
