Mills & Reeve is set to expand its Leeds office significantly by taking up 10,200 square feet at 1 City Square in October 2024. This move comes as the firm looks to nearly double its existing office space following a more than 25% increase in headcount over the past year. Paul Johnson, head of the Leeds office, emphasised that the new state-of-the-art location will provide an optimal environment for both current staff and potential new recruits.
Since its establishment in 2008, the Leeds office has experienced remarkable growth, launching several new practice areas that have attracted a broader client base. The firm’s commitment to the Yorkshire market is evident as it seeks to further bolster its unique sector strengths by attracting top-tier legal talent.
The past 12 months have marked a period of rapid expansion for Mills & Reeve, with significant client wins both locally and beyond. Paul Johnson stated: “The state-of-the-art office will create a perfect environment for existing staff, clients and planned recruits as the office continues its expansion strategy.”
Emphasising regional growth, the firm sees substantial opportunities as international competitors increasingly target global clients. Their focus on sectors such as technology, healthcare, education, and food and agribusiness has led to exponential client base growth.
In a strategic move, Mills & Reeve is relocating within 1 City Square, moving from the fourth to the second floor, citing its proximity to the train station as ideal for client access. Paul Johnson added: “We looked at several locations, but 1 City Square remains the best location. It’s an iconic building near to the train station, perfect for clients.”
Enhancements to the new office include collaboration with Overbury, an office fit-out specialist, and commissioning local artist Melody Sutherland for artwork. These improvements reflect Mills & Reeve’s commitment to creating a vibrant workspace that fosters collaboration and innovation.
Mills & Reeve’s strategic expansion highlights its commitment to growth and excellence in the legal sector.
