Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche has launched the explorer yacht Tartaruga, hull number six in its Nauta Air series, for an American owner planning global cruising adventures. Named after the word for “turtle” in several languages, the 107-foot vessel was launched recently and reflects the owner’s desire for a measured, steady approach to world exploration. The pocket superyacht accommodates 12 guests and six crew members for extended voyages across diverse destinations.

Designed by Nauta Design, the same studio behind the series inaugurated 12 years ago, Tartaruga features customized elements requested by her owner. According to the shipyard, these modifications include more angular styling, significantly larger windows across all decks, and a dedicated davit system on the main deck for a nearly 20-foot tender.

Explorer Yacht Design Features Contemporary Elegance

The Nauta Air series has always encouraged owners to personalize their vessels, and Tartaruga exemplifies this philosophy. Each of the six deliveries since the series began has embodied unique characteristics, with the first yacht Yolo setting the precedent for owner collaboration. The design studio integrated the client’s vision throughout the 32.6-meter vessel.

Nauta Design’s co-director Guido Valtorta described the interior approach as featuring “clean lines and subtle organic details.” He explained that architectural geometries meet carefully selected furniture pieces, creating what he characterizes as “an ambiance of understated elegance and quiet luxury.” The light mood connecting interior and exterior spaces reflects the owner’s personal tastes while maintaining visual continuity.

Environmental Technology for Sensitive Regions

Tartaruga incorporates a Dynamic Positioning system, a technical feature that allows station keeping without deploying an anchor. This technology proves particularly valuable when the yacht begins cruising later this year, as the owner plans to visit environmentally sensitive regions. The system helps avoid damaging sea beds and coral structures while maintaining the vessel’s position.

Additionally, the explorer yacht offers a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, powered by twin 715-horsepower Caterpillar engines. The extended range capabilities support the owner’s globetrotting ambitions, though specific destinations remain confidential. The yacht’s five staterooms accommodate up to 12 guests in addition to the crew of six.

Outdoor Spaces Reflect Yachting Tradition

In keeping with yachting tradition, Tartaruga provides ample alfresco areas for guests to enjoy. The main aft deck features comfortable seating arrangements suitable for both underway passages and anchored relaxation. Meanwhile, the sundeck delivers uninterrupted views of surrounding seascapes, maximizing the connection between passengers and their environment.

The integration of larger windows throughout the vessel enhances natural light penetration while the fashion plates blend seamlessly with the fenestration on the main deck. These design choices support the yacht’s contemporary aesthetic while serving practical purposes during extended cruising.

Nauta Air Series Continues Expansion

The successful launch of Tartaruga marks another milestone for Cantiere delle Marche’s collaboration with Nauta Design. However, the shipyard has already announced that hull number seven in the Nauta Air series will launch soon. The continuing demand for these explorer yachts demonstrates the appeal of customizable, long-range vessels among discerning owners.

Naval architecture was handled jointly by Cantiere delle Marche and Hydro Tec, combining the shipyard’s construction expertise with specialized hydrodynamic design. This collaboration ensures the vessel’s seaworthiness across the varied conditions she will encounter during global cruising.

The yacht is expected to commence her maiden voyage later this year, though the timeline for delivery and the specific cruising itinerary have not been confirmed by the shipyard or owner.
