A new shared living project named Bradford Works has been approved by Birmingham city planners. It is set to convert an existing building in the Jewellery Quarter into 54 micro-apartments. Each apartment will be self-contained, yet residents will share communal spaces designed to encourage interaction and community building.
These communal spaces will include lounges, kitchens, dining areas, workspaces, a wellness studio, and a roof terrace, all aimed at creating a community atmosphere not typically found in standard apartment complexes. This innovative approach is designed to appeal to young professionals, as well as post-graduate students and freelancers seeking a dynamic living environment.
The project is a development by Cordia UK, marking its first shared-living initiative in Birmingham. The developer is also behind The Lampworks, a nearby project comprising 148 rental apartments. Cordia UK’s chief executive, Andras Kárpáti, has expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its role in revitalising Great Hampton Street.
Cordia UK has an established presence in the area, having recently completed The Gothic apartment block and transforming a former TSB branch into business spaces, including the company’s headquarters now known as The Bank. This latest project reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing urban living spaces in Birmingham.
