Fashion brand Plaza Collection is making strategic strides to bolster its operations with a significant £7 million investment. This move aims to establish a new headquarters in Salford, marking an evolution in the company’s presence in the region.
Founded in 1982, Plaza Collection has consistently catered to its customer base by selling approximately 25,000 garments weekly, both through wholesale channels and online. The decision to develop a new HQ stems from the company’s need to expand beyond its current premises at OM House on Broughton Street, Cheetham Hill, which it has outgrown after years of steady growth.
The proposed headquarters will be constructed on a site formerly used as a car dealership, located at 266 Bury New Road, Salford. The development will include the redevelopment and extension of existing car showroom buildings, alongside the erection of a standalone five-storey storage unit. This storage facility, to be operated independently from Plaza Collection, is designed to generate a secondary income stream.
Currently employing around 40 individuals, Plaza Collection plans to increase its workforce by 50% upon completion of the new headquarters, adding approximately 50 new jobs. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to enhance its operational capabilities and meet increasing market demand.
The planning application is presently under consideration by Salford City Council. A decision regarding the approval of this development is anticipated by the end of the year, influencing the timeline for Plaza Collection’s future growth and its contributions to the local economy.
The ambitious plan by Plaza Collection not only marks a significant investment in Salford but also anticipates robust growth and job creation.
