Tekgem, a prominent player in industrial cyber security, has responded to growing global demand by doubling the size of its headquarters in County Durham. This strategic expansion comes shortly after the company’s establishment of a base in Dubai to serve the burgeoning UAE market.
The firm, based at NETPark in Sedgefield, is known for its sophisticated software platforms designed to monitor cyber risks and protect against the latest threats. Tekgem’s client list includes industry giants in the petrochemical, oil, gas, and utilities sectors, such as Mitsubishi Chemical, Total, and INEOS.
This expansion not only facilitates Tekgem’s operational growth but also bolsters its commitment to developing new talent. As part of this effort, the company has welcomed its third cohort of apprentices, increasing its team with 12 new recruits. This move reflects Tekgem’s broader ambition to grow its workforce fivefold by 2028.
Founder and CEO Ian Gemski underlined the significance of the expanded office space in supporting the company’s scale-up strategy. From its humble beginnings at NETPark in 2020, Tekgem has progressively moved into larger offices to accommodate their growth, now having space for 50 employees.
The company’s presence at NETPark is a testament to the flexibility and opportunities it provides. The location has also enabled Tekgem to secure three software engineer interns from Durham University, thanks to strong partnerships within the park.
Sara Williams, Manager of NETPark, praised Tekgem’s growth and its role in nurturing talent. She emphasized the supportive ecosystem at NETPark, which fosters ambition and aligns with the skills agenda for the next generation of employees.
Tekgem’s expansion marks a significant step in its growth strategy, reinforcing its influence in the global cyber security landscape.
