The UK government has appointed Greenpixie, a young startup headquartered near Covent Garden, London, to evaluate the environmental impact of its new digital service platform, One Login. This system is designed as a unified portal whereby UK citizens can manage inquiries across government departments, aiming to provide a simplified user experience.
Greenpixie, established in 2021, has been tasked by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to supply precise data on the energy and water consumption required to maintain the servers running One Login. By providing usage-based sustainability metrics, Greenpixie hopes to highlight areas where the system can improve its environmental footprint.
Digital Minister Feryal Clark highlighted the significance of technological advancements being environmentally conscious.
